Madeline Wade • Texas State University, San Marcos
Madeline Wade, Blue Index’s innagural Fellow, is a graduate student of Geography at Texas State University studying human-environment interactions with a focus on water resources. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2020 with a B.S in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Psychology. She has experience in water quality testing, field monitoring, and community education program design. She is interested in interdisciplinary research that connects the natural and social sciences to communicate the importance of protecting and conserving waterscapes to a broad audience. She aims to design effective community education initiatives that connect people to the landscape and encourage them to take ownership of and protect their valuable water resources.
Madeline is partnering with Texas State University, the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, and the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment to implement her Blue Index project in the San Marcos River Watershed.
